Soho House to open in Glasgow in 2024

Soho House is to open its first members' club in Scotland in Glasgow next year.

The group is to redevelop the former Glasgow Parish Council Chambers and Collectors Hall, located just off George Square in the city centre.

It will have spaces for members to eat, drink and socialise across four floors, including a roof terrace.

Andrew Carnie, chief executive of Soho House, said: "From its renowned School of Art to its rich architectural heritage and the city's lively music scene, Glasgow has a creative energy which makes it an exciting choice for our first Scottish location."

Soho House said it had spent the last year building its membership in Glasgow through its Cities Without Houses programme, which provides access to local events hosted by the club and grants entry to its locations worldwide.

The opening comes as part of a wider expansion of the Soho House brand in the UK and overseas, with sites set to open in Mexico City, Portland, Oregon and Sao Paulo at the end of the year.

The launch of the first House in the north of England, in Manchester's old Granada Studios building, has been delayed until spring 2024.

Nick Jones (pictured), who founded Soho House in London in 1995, said in 2022 that the group wanted to offer members "more spaces outside of central London".

Last week, the group said its total membership grew by 10,110 to a total of 248,071 in the second quarter of 2023, a 28% increase on the previous year.

Those hoping to gain membership face a long delay as the waitlist reached an all-time high of 95,000 during the last quarter.

Soho House runs 41 members' clubs around the world, including 14 in the UK in London, Brighton, Somerset, Oxfordshire, and Windsor.
