The Garden Cider Company to sponsor a race at the upcoming Epsom meet

The Surrey-based cider company is set for their latest show of support for the horse racing community, by sponsoring races at Epsom Downs race meet on Monday 29 August.

Sponsorship at the event will see a number of races named after the cider makers including ‘The Garden Cider Handicap Stakes’, in addition to the company's recent sponsorship of horse trainer and former three times Champion Jockey, Richard Hughes.

As well as having a race named after them, The Garden Cider Company logo will also be seen alongside the home straight, Parade Ring, on the big screens throughout the racecourse and within the trophy presentation area.

Will Filby co-owner of The Garden Cider Company said “Sponsorship of events in our home county is something that we are passionate about, we’re proud to be a company which was established in Surrey and know just how much the sport of horse racing means to the local community.

“Myself and Co-owner Ben (Filby) can’t wait for the race meet and to see our business's name associated with such a fantastic summer event. To be able to present trophies to the winners will be an absolute honour and something that we are cherishing the opportunity to do, to be part of the day of sporting action. We would love for racegoers to one day be able to also taste our refreshing cider at racecourses, and this is something that we are working hard to make happen.”

The Garden Cider Company was formed in 2010 and harvested its first fruit in 2011. The idea is simple, they take an abundant, natural and usually wasted resource and turn it into a range of ciders that are both ethical and sustainable.

The cider producers now have over 4000 households registered to take part each year and make a range of 8 premium ciders. Onsite at their base in Chiddingfold, Surrey, they have their own packaging line and control every aspect of the production process from apple to bottle.
