Roadchef and Wyndham open UK's first Super 8 hotel
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has opened its first roadside hotel under its budget Super 8 brand in the UK this month.
The franchising company has partnered with motorway service operator Roadchef to launch the Super 8 by Wyndham Chester East, located just off the M56.
The 41-room hotel features a mix of room sizes to suit families, groups, couples, or solo travellers, as well as a bar, restaurant and electric vehicle charging facilities.
It forms part of a wider multi-million-pound investment by Roadchef as it looks to upgrade its roadside hotels across the UK.
A growing number of hospitality brands are looking to enter the roadside space as a rise in electric car usage increases the number of drivers looking to stop to charge their vehicle.
Soho House has launched a spin-off Mollie's Motel brand, which has roadside sites near Bristol and in Oxfordshire, while Loungers is hoping to replicate the heyday of the Little Chef chain with its Brightside restaurant brand.
Dan Sutton, Head of Hotels at Roadchef, said: "Our long-term vision is to transform the way people experience road travel and roadside hotels. Business and leisure travellers alike seek convenience, comfort, and affordability, and we believe hoteliers need to cater to these modern-day guests and their evolving expectations."
There are 2,700 roadside hotels under the Super 8 by Wyndham brand operating worldwide.
Wyndham claims to be the world's largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,100 properties in over 95 countries. It has a portfolio of over 65 hotels across the UK.
