Hotel du Vin transforms its York and Harrogate Bistros

Hotel du Vin this week relaunches its Bistros in York and Harrogate, following a complete refurbishment.

The announcement comes at a time of significant investment for the brand, spearheaded by Guus Bakker, Chief Executive Officer at Malmaison Hotel du Vin. The Group has recently unveiled a number of other Bistro refurbishments across the brand, including Winchester and Cambridge, and will continue to do so over the next 24 months.

Each as striking as the other, the revamped Bistros see Hotel du Vin return to its roots, evoking the traditional French Bistros that first inspired the brand, but with a distinctly contemporary feel. Muted hues, clean lines and soft lighting are embellished with gorgeous plants and foliage throughout, complementing the vast windows, and creating a bright but warm space.

In Hotel du Vin York, terracotta and botanical green interiors are paired with simple furniture and modern, softly lit lamps to create a warm, intimate feel, while the 16 globed chandelier in the centre of the Bistro oozes elegance. Curtained alcoves and banquet style seating have been introduced to give guests a semi private dining experience without losing the buzz of the Bistro.

Meanwhile in Hotel du Vin Harrogate, the contemporary yet traditional finishes have given the Bistro a sense of sophistication. The olive-green walls are adorned with mirrors making for a bright, airy feel with light cascading throughout. The soft lighting creates a relaxed setting, designed to encourage guests to relax and take their time while dining. The new colour scheme extends into the private dining room, which has also had a makeover of its own, complete with golden chandeliers. With stunning views over The Stray, it is perfect for a special celebration.

Hotel du Vin has also introduced a new Prix Fixe menu, which brings together heart-warming, traditional French food and quality, regionally sourced ingredients. Venison is slowly cooked with North Brewing Pinata ale for the venison and beetroot pie; pigs cheeks are braised in Orchard Pig Truffler Cider; the Devon crab cake is filled with Swaledale original cheddar, and, of course, Yorkshire rhubarb takes pride of place in the crumble.

Hotel du Vin’s unrivalled wine selection has remained at the forefront of both properties. The carefully selected list – curated by the brand’s expert sommeliers - brings together a comprehensive selection spanning regions and grapes to suit all palettes.

Matt Strawford, General Manager of Hotel du Vin York commented, “We’ve worked hard to transform the space and are delighted with the result. We’re really excited to reveal our new Bistro to our guests, and welcome back our local regulars – we hope they will love it as much as we do.”

Adam Green, General Manager of Hotel du Vin Harrogate added, “The team and I can’t wait to open the doors of our new Bistro – we’re so happy with the new look and are excited to share it with our guests."
