Severin*s - The Alpine Retreat, Lech Begins Plans for the Winter Season
The 2019-20 ski season was a knockout - with superb snow from the start of the season in early December, and glorious blue skies in February. Following our long lockdown, all eyes are now on the winter season – mountain holidays that tick all the boxes for healthy, adventurous, active as well as indulgent holidays - for romantic getaways, family jaunts and multi-generational get-togethers and avoiding the crowds of winter cities.
Severin*s – The Alpine Retreat, is a luxury boutique ski hotel set on the outskirts of the picture-perfect, chic Alpine town of Lech – around one hour’s drive from Zurich and 90 minutes from Innsbruck. With just nine suites, all guests have masses of space: a set of rooms with huge en-suite bathrooms, wrap-around balconies, comfy sitting rooms with open fires and state-of-the-art sound systems. The hotel has an applauded chef, a basement pool, steam rooms and saunas, a private wine cellar and the friendliest of 5* service. For parties of up to 8 people it also has a fully serviced private residence with grand piano, modern kitchen, vast sitting room and dining area and private cinema, a spacious hot tub that fits up to six people and entrance.
New Year 2020/21 is nearly fully booked at Severin*s, and bookings for the winter season are ahead of the traditional curve, but the hotel is planning new experiences and events to welcome back its loyal guests as well as seduce first timers to this glorious mountain hideaway.
Bespoke, foody experiences include:
Chef’s Table in the neighbouring village of Zug
With private taxi to an old schoolhouse, guests will be treated to multiple fine-dining courses showcasing the very best of the region’s cuisine and produce. The Chef’s Table can be exclusively booked by Severin*s guests. Video here.
Fondue by Skidoo
Severin*s guests are invited to book a skidoo to deliver them to a mountain hut where they can enjoy the best Austrian fondue on offer. Choose to cook your beef, veal or king prawns in sizzling oil or in ‘Chinese Broth’ – or indulge in a venison ‘Hunters’ fondue, or traditional cheese, wine and cherry-brandy recipe. All with salads, potatoes and the side dishes that transform simple fondue into feast.
The Älpele menu is here.
In addition, let Severin*s plan your itinerary to join some of the highlights of the winter season ahead, including:
Lech Food Festival: 4-6 December 2020
A weekend of activities during which the hotels and restaurants showcase the best produce of the area – from locally produced cheeses and traditional regional wines to modern flavoured gin. Tastings are wide ranging and arranged as complimentary for Severin*s guests – taking you on an unforgettable tour of the town and its gastronomic highlights.
‘Disco’ Gondolas: 4-5 December 2020
The gondolas of the Rüfikopf cable cars become disco gondolas in which internationally renowned DJs bring the atmosphere to the boil. At Rüfikopf, light artists transform the snow-capped mountains into screens on which a wide variety of motifs are projected with large projectors. In the restaurants, the mountain stations and the Kästle Museum, DJs and other artists play their entire repertoire and delight the audience on open-air stages.
The White Ring Race: 16 January 2021
A thousand skiers battle to take the trophy on a self-monitored route that starts in Lech and takes in Zurs, Zug and Oberlech. Last year the British Ski Club was involved, and Severin*s can secure a place in the race for any keen-skiing guests of all ages. Images 2020 are here.
Lech am Arlburg Music Festival: 4-18 April 2021
The Tanzcafé Arlberg Music Festival turns ski slopes into dancing slopes – the entire village is transformed into an all-encompassing dance hall. Loads of live music ranging from swing jazz and big band to pop, funk, R&B, urban brass and electro beats. Over the course of two weeks, unique musicians from all over the world come to the Arlberg to join a diverse local music scene.
Lech ‘Wine in the Gondola’ Festival: 16 April 2021
Limited tickets are available for a festival to introduce you to some of Austria’s finest vintners – ski the mountains in the morning, and spend the afternoon tasting selected Austrian wines in the gondolas of the Auenfeldjet.
