Venue Search London, the capital’s event specialist, revealed a growing trend in hotels utilising roof space to further enhance their offering.

Hotels are being influenced by London’s growing demand for summer rooftop pop ups with many new openings incorporating roof terraces to be used as restaurants, bars and private events venues.

Following the successes of popular roof terraces like those at The Ned, Skylight London and The Deck at The National Theatre, many hotels in the capital are incorporating outdoor space to capitalise on this growing trend.

London’s latest high-rise hotel haunts include:

Vintry & Mercer’s Mercer Roof Terrace, City of London (opened February 4, 2019) – Allows guests to enjoy a tipple overlooking iconic London landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard.

The Biltmore, Mayfair (opening spring 2019) – Will be home to a year-round alfresco terrace allowing Londoners to take in the sights whatever the weather.

The Standard London, King’s Cross (opening 2019) – Will offer a destination rooftop restaurant accessible by an exterior lift, which will give visitors stunning views over the capital.

The Stratford at Manhattan Loft Gardens, Stratford (opening spring 2019) – is the latest edition to the east London skyline and will include three lush sky gardens designed by landscapers Randle Siddeley including Allegra restaurant and garden, a sheltered alfresco enclave on the 25th floor and on the 36th, a tranquil urban retreat.

Kimberleigh Lloyd, Sales Director at Venue Search London, comments: “The London skyline seems to see a new addition on an almost monthly basis, and forward thinking hotels are now aware of the need to offer city dwellers an outdoor experience. As such, we’re seeing an increase in new hotels factoring in space for rooftop terraces, bars and restaurants to be used as events space.

“With summers in the capital getting longer and hotter, we see this as a trend that’s here to stay and look forward to seeing a whole new selection of high-rise boltholes in which to take in the views this summer.”

Venue Search London is a specialist event organiser with its finger firmly on the pulse of the capital’s new and emerging venues and locations. The company organises more than 275 events each year and has a broad roster of clients from start-ups and scale-ups, to heritage brands and global organisations.
