Leeds Castle to launch new luxury Lakeside Lodges this winter

Leeds Castle, located near Maidstone, Kent, has announced it is creating four new luxury Lakeside Lodges, due to open winter 2023.

Nestled within over 500 acres of historic and seasonal parkland at Leeds Castle, a haven of tranquillity offering a wealth of discovery and enjoyment for all ages, the Lakeside Lodges offer an exclusive escape for guests seeking a serene getaway.

Accessed via a private walkway that meanders through the captivating Lady Baillie Mediterranean Garden Terraces, the Lakeside Lodges enable guests to enjoy direct entry to the historic Grade I listed Leeds Castle, steeped in over 900 years of history, and its extensive range of amenities and facilities. The highlight of the lodges is the magnificent view they offer over the Great Water from the private deck, as well as extraordinary nighttime views through the stargazing rooflight directly above guests’ beds.

Designed by Koto in their signature style, the lodges feature sculptural forms that maximise natural light, connecting guests with the outside world. They allow guests to fully immerse themselves in nature, fostering a sense of calm and tranquillity.

The lodges will also have private spaces where guests can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery while enjoying a soak in the luxurious Lusso stone bathroom, featuring a sleek black external bathtub. They also benefit from large opening sliding doors that promote natural ventilation, and a motorised blind system.

Sustainability takes the lead in both design and production of the lodges. Built using UK-grown timber and home-grown charred larch to minimise carbon footprint, carbon dioxide is captured in the fabric of the building and actively removed from the atmosphere, creating a carbon neutral space. The lodges will maintain optimal internal temperature control while minimising energy consumption and environmental impact.

Leeds Castle’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond the cabins with a biodiversity and landscape strategy that nurtures thriving habitats for nature within the castle’s grounds.

This includes the area under and around cabins and the water’s edge to be managed to maximise its bio-diversity and to protect and be of value to local wildlife populations. The area will be home to bird nests and bat boxes as well as a reptile refuge.

“Our new Lakeside Lodges will add another exciting opportunity for guests to enjoy a luxury stay within the grounds of Leeds Castle”, said Helen Bonser-Wilton, Chief Executive of the Leeds Castle Foundation.

“The lodges have been meticulously designed to offer a perfect blend of modern comfort and luxury, with breathtaking views of the picturesque Great Water and the historic Leeds Castle estate. We are confident that guests will be captivated by the unrivalled views, impeccable service, and the peaceful serenity of their surroundings, ensuring an unforgettable stay.”

The Lakeside Lodges are priced from £325 per night on a bed and breakfast basis for two adults. Booking is open now for stays from 8th December 2023.
