Chessington Welcomes a New Arrival

Chessington World of Adventures Resort is celebrating by announcing the birth of a female baby saki monkey.

The youngling, who is yet to be named, was born at the Resort to mother, Lana, who is 15 years old, and father, Xingu, who is 16 years old, at the start of the year. Over the last few weeks, Chessington’s expert keepers have been closely monitoring the new arrival to ensure she is settling into her environment.

Now at 9 weeks old, the Surrey zoo has released adorable images showing the little one riding on her mother’s back, where she will stay for 6 – 12 months. The newborn joins the group of saki monkeys alongside sister ‘Cinnamon’ who was born in 2022.

Visitors may be able to sneak a peek at the new arrival when Chessington reopens on March 22.
