Joel Darfeuille from Fairmont Monte Carlo named ‘World’s Best Receptionist’

Joël Darfeuille, receptionist at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, was awarded the coveted title of "World’s Best Receptionist" on Saturday, March 22, during the 33rd edition of the David Campbell Trophy, held in Athens.

After being crowned "Best Receptionist of France" by the AICR (International Association of Chief Receptionists and Deputy Receptionists) in December 2024, Joël pushed the boundaries of excellence alongside his mentor, Sébastien Brincat, Chief Receptionist at Fairmont Monte Carlo, to win the international final of this prestigious competition, which highlights the best professionals in hospitality.

Joël distinguished himself among 17 finalists from around the world. During the competition, which took place on March 20, he successfully completed four decisive challenges: back-office preparation, two role-playing exercises where he had to handle complex situations with demanding clients, and finally, a strategic meeting with all the candidates. It was especially during this final stage that Joël truly stood out, demonstrating leadership, innovation, and a remarkable strategic vision.

With a career rich in experience at renowned establishments such as Aman le Mélézin and Hotel Barrière Les Neiges in Courchevel, La Bastide de Gordes, and the Hotel Café Royal in London, Joël now thrives at Fairmont Monte Carlo, working alongside a team of 28 people who supported him over the past few months.
