Valor Hospitality Partners has expanded its global business development team with the appointment of Tim Smith, former managing partner of HVS sub-Saharan Africa.

Based in London, Tim joins as head of business development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), working directly with the Valor Europe office.

Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, Valor had experienced a period of rapid global growth. Now, with a significant pipeline of opportunities and the number of owners and hospitality businesses in need of professional management following the crisis, the company stands poised to further build its international platform, with Tim being the driving force behind the EMEA region.

Having worked in 35 different African countries as well as 30 across Europe and the Middle East, Tim will be utilising his extensive knowledge and experience to grow the Valor portfolio.

Commenting on his new role, Tim said: “We are fortunate to work in a strong and adaptable industry and it is this resolution that will ensure we emerge from these most challenging times.

“This global pandemic has illustrated the importance of partnering with industry experts that have their interests fully aligned. The Valor business model and global experience does just that, resulting in a more secure and successful investment for all parties. I am thrilled to be joining the company at this pivotal time for our industry and look forward to working with many new and existing partners.”

Euan McGlashan, co-founder and CEO of Valor Hospitality Partners, added: “We believe the opportunities for franchising will increase ten-fold in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East as investors realise the importance of having a highly experienced operator to run their hotel, both to take-on the operational challenges and to protect their investment.

“Tim will be working closely with our UK and African teams, as well as our Dubai office that we opened in 2019, to grow the footprint in each region. Expanding our UK and European portfolio will be an important aspect of Tim’s role, following many years of award-winning hotels performance, where our ‘culture wrapped in commerciality’ ethos has seen Valor atop the lists for Best Employer, while delivering best in market RGI execution.

“We are committed to growing our portfolio across the continent, providing market leading returns to investors and demonstrating the benefits of working with Valor. Tim will be a key member of our senior team, continuing to deliver the outstanding client service expected of Valor Hospitality Partners.”
