Keeping up with the Joneses: Jones Family Affair launches in Covent Garden

This month, the Jones family are delighted to announce the opening of their latest restaurant, The Jones Family Affair, sister to The Jones Family Kitchen in Belgravia.

This independently owned, modern steak restaurant and cocktail bar, is situated in the heart of theatreland, just off Trafalgar Square. The Jones Family Affair is a restaurant where customers can enjoy great food, great drinks, and a great time in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Interiors to make you smile ….

The beautiful site has 150 covers which are spread over two floors. The centre of the restaurant has a huge atrium style skylight, allowing natural light to flood in. A variety of tables and banquette seating fills the floor space. Interiors are a passion of the owner, who has a wonderfully eye-catching style, with a love of florals and colour, shown in some of the stunning House of Hackney and Timorous Beasties upholstered pieces of furniture and on the walls. The art is another focal point, again curated by the owner, who has built a very desirable, eclectic collection, adorning the walls and ceiling. The art will change from time to time, to showcase young up-coming artists along with new pieces. With exposed brick walls, low lighting and a long marble bar at the entrance, the minute you step inside, you know you are destined for a good time.

To eat …

The Jones Family Affair is passionate about their steak, and the restaurant collaborates with England’s premier farmer and butcher, The Ginger Pig. The menu centres around steak from grass fed Longhorn cattle and succulent Tamworth pork.

Starter dishes include Jones’ House Smoked Bacon Salad, Jones Fillet Tartare with truffle and beef dripping toast or Pan-Fried Scallops with Black Pudding.

Fish arrives daily from day boats in Cornwall and the South Coast through Flying Fish, who pride themselves on the highest quality and sustainability. Choose from Pan Fried Cod, with Fennel Spinach and Orange or Turbot with Leeks, Grilled Cauliflower and Mushrooms. The menu will always include vegan options and a tempting selection of daily specials.

Additional signature dishes include: Jones Chuck Burger served with slow cooked oxtail, iceberg, tomato, sesame pickle & fries, add Ginger Pig bacon & mature cheddar and Tamworth Pork Chop served with Chorizo, new potatoes, spinach, confit garlic and paprika butter, black pudding. Vegetarian options include Roasted Pumpkin with parmesan flan, lentil stuffed cabbage and cauliflower tempura.

The lunch menu also includes lighter dishes such as a Superfood Salad or ‘Everything on Toast’ including avocado, spinach and poached egg.

The Desserts menu includes Chocolate & Peanut Cream Cake, Pear Tatin, or a selection of British cheeses.

The bar …

Cocktails play a big part during an evening (or lunch) at The Jones Family Affair; the list is inventive and wide ranging, with a spritz of modern and large glug of the classics. The innovative cocktail menu is the reason to visit with the strong (The Almost Old Fashioned blends both whiskey and rum), the sour (including a fluffy Saffron Sour), the bitter (the Lost Negroni has a house-blend of vermouths and bitters) and the bubbly (the Apple Bellini throws Prosecco together with apple liqueur). Couple this with the lovingly curated wine list (divided by both style and country) featuring over 30 accessible wines offered by the glass, and you can settle in for the night!

Pre-Theatre …

With so many theatres on their doorstep, a pre and post theatre menu will appeal to the ballet and theatre crowds of WC2. The menu offers 2 courses £19.50 and 3 for £23.50.

Private dining …

This versatile restaurant has a number of beautiful spaces perfect for a variety of different events from 4 to 30 people. From a business lunch or birthday party in the private dining area, which also has its own bar and street views, to small cosy living room style space for 6-8, or for the keen foodies, the area to the side of the kitchen is bookable for those who want to have their own space next but still be amongst the action.

Whatever your reason for visiting, from a long lunch to a birthday celebration or lazy Sunday hang out, this very special venue in the heart of theatreland, it will not disappoint. They aim is to bring a smile the faces of our customers and them to want to come back time over and share the Jones Family Affair.
