The Boundary Shoreditch to open new drinking and dining concept: Boundary
East London’s favourite neighbourhood residency to open all-new ground floor bar & brasserie & refurbished rooftop bar & grill on 18 May, appointing chef Robin Freeman to oversee the opening.
Following acquisition by James McCulloch of Harcourt Inns and extensive renovation, The Boundary Shoreditch will open its brand-new ground floor bar & restaurant - Boundary – on 18 May 2022. The opening will be by Boundary’s newly appointed Head Chef, Robin Freeman (formerly of 1 Lombard Street and Ekte Nordic Kitchen) who will also oversee as well as the refurbished rooftop bar restaurant.
Formerly owned and designed by Sir Terence Conran, The Boundary is famed for its contemporary atmosphere and convivial hospitality. Re-instating The Boundary to its former glory, its new restaurant opening marks a new era for the property: a must-visit East London hub for tourists and locals alike.
‘Boundary’ - the new ground floor restaurant & bar (formerly Albion Café) will offer an all-day British brasserie-style menu. Centred around a new 20 metre zinc top central bar, the 100-cover restaurant and bar will serve modern British fare with a European influence, inspired by Swedish-born head chef, Robin Freeman. Provenance is at the heart of the Boundary with a menu championing seasonal, sustainable British produce cooked in a casual and simple style. The restaurant’s menu will include the likes of Lulworth Bay scallops in anchovy & parsley butter, Cuttlefish in ink sauceand Glenarm Estate longhorn steak tartare. Mains feature sharing style Whole roasted chicken with wild garlic butter, Grilled Torbay cod, and Wild garlic & nettle risotto. Meat is thoughtfully sourced, with chickens from suppliers like Johnson & Swarbrick, beef from Glenarm Estate and fish from day boats off the Dorset and Devon coastlines. Weekends will see a Saturday brunch and roasts on Sundays. Drinks will be served into the small hours of the morning.
The Boundary’s famous basement - an industrial brick-walled events space for up to 150 people - will continue to host some of the city’s best parties and private events, with innovative catering provided by the hotel’s new head chef. Recently purchased by James McCulloch - the founder of Harcourt Inns, known for developing some of the UK’s foremost pubs – the opening of the ground floor Boundary restaurant and bar marks a new era for this iconic former Victorian warehouse.
On the opening, James McCulloch says:
“The ground floor of the Boundary is one of the most underutilised spaces in East London and I’m excited to have the opportunity to re-position it into a bar and brasserie. The rooftop has always been a popular destination over the summer months, and we just want to build on its popularity by improving the guests overall experience, through better food and drink and introducing live music and some personality. Whether you’re enjoying a sundowner on the rooftop bar, staying in one of the boutique hotel rooms, tucking into a three-course meal in the brasserie or hosting your 40thbirthday party in the basement then quality, provenance and hospitality will be at the heart of what we offer.”
