Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet Launch Week-Long Underwater Photography Courses at Scuba St Lucia
This year, Soufrière sister resorts Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet will host an exciting series of week-long underwater photography courses for budding marine photographers.
Running from 25th April – 1st May and 29th August – 5th September 2020 at the resorts’ PADI Five Star dive centre Scuba St Lucia, aspiring photographers will learn all the basics of underwater photography, including composition, ambient light use and animal portraits, before snapping their own aquatic photos.
Guests participating in the underwater photography programme will be loaned all the diving and photography equipment necessary for the course, including a state-of-the-art SeaLife DC2000 underwater camera.
Every day will begin with two-morning dives around Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet’s incredible house reef. Starting just ten yards beyond the water’s edge, the house reef is home to more than 150 different species of fish and is suitable for divers of all abilities.
Turtles, sea horses, octopus, lobster, parrotfish and more are regularly spotted on the house reef, guaranteeing some truly spectacular underwater photos. Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet’s award-winning resident photographer, Bernd Rac and members of the Scuba St Lucia team will also be on hand throughout the dives to offer guests photography and diving pointers.
After a morning of diving, guests will head back to the resort for seminars led by Bernd. Bernd began his underwater photography career at UNESCO in Freeport, Bahamas twenty-five years ago and has been at Scuba St Lucia for over twenty years.
Over the course of the afternoon, Bernd will review each photographer’s work from the morning, guide guests through editing their photos and discuss the next day’s underwater challenge.
Guests will also have the chance to submit their best work to Scuba St Lucia’s Photography Week Photo Competition throughout the week. The competition winners will be announced at the photography school’s closing ceremony on the last day of the course.
With its vibrant house reef, understated yet luxurious rooms that embrace the tropical island setting, delicious locally sourced food and the expert guidance of a renowned photographer, Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet offer the ideal location to your hand at underwater photography.
