Through carefully curated sightseeing and gourmet initiatives, the five-star hotel is proud to still offer visitors a fulfilling city break, in full compliance with the rules of social distancing. The New York Café Gourmet Picnic – The hotel is renowned for its legendary fine dining restaurant, New York Café. Guests can now experience its Hungarian delicacies whilst also enjoying the city’s green spaces and open air. Specially packed and hand delivered, families, friends or couples can enjoy a relaxed picnic in one of Budapest’s most beautiful parks or gardens, personally chosen by the hotel concierge. Picnics baskets will made to burst with edible treats ad delicious local wine, which will then be cleared up once the party has left.

In response to Covid-19, guests will be driven to their secluded spot by a driver separated by protective glass and wearing gloves and a face mask. The car will be sanitized after each journey, along with the picnic blanket and picnic basket – which will contain hand sanitizer and wipes.

The New York Café Gourmet Picnic is available from EUR 179 / £162 based on 4 people, including wine, and can be booked directly with the hotel upon arrival.

Private Drive  From the calm hillsides of Buda, to energetic downtown Pest and across the fast-flowing River Danube, Budapest is a city worth exploring. New York Palace is offering leisurely three-hour excursions, in the luxury of a private car, so guests can still enjoy all aspects of the capital. Guides can share their full knowledge of the city and routes are tailored according to interest and range from cultural sights, fashion hubs and a few hidden gems. Why not visit Central Market Hall, St Stephen’s Basilica and the House of Terror before the crowds of tourists catch on and return?

All driver-guides are fully certified and happy to meet guests later should they wish to stop at an attraction. Drivers will also be wearing gloves, face masks and will be separated by protective glass. The car will be sanitized after each journey and will contain sanitizer and wipes.

The Private Drive is available from EUR 270 / £245 based on 3 people and can be booked directly with the hotel upon arrival.

Culinary Masterclass  It isn’t possible to visit Budapest without falling in love with the local cuisine and with the New York Palace guests can take their cooking skills to the next level. Join Andras Wolf, a celebrated Hungarian chef at the Salon Restaurant for an absorbing culinary experience. Over the course of three hours, guests will learn Wolf’s practises and techniques with a sequence of seasonal dishes – focusing on fusing traditional cuisine with contemporary flavours to create a distinctive European menu.

Classes are tailored to ability and all interaction takes place at a social distance of 1.5 metre. Classes are limited to four guests. Chefs and hotel staff will be wearing masks and gloves.

The Culinary Masterclass is available from EUR 100 / £90 per person and can be booked directly with the hotel upon arrival.

Budapest by Bike  A guided bike tour is the ideal way to see the city whilst getting some exercise in the great outdoors. Starting from the hotel, guests with pedal off for a three-and-a-half hour ride, circling the streets and squares of downtown Pest, sailing over the Széchenyi Chain Bridge and finishing up at Buda Castle. The hotel will provide you with food and drinks to give guests enough energy for the final ascent and enjoy stunning views of the whole city.
Routes will be tailored to ability and bikes and helmets are sterilized before and after use. Guides will wear masks and gloves, which will be provided for guests upon request.

Budapest by Bike is available from EUR 50 / £45 per person and can be booked directly with the hotel upon arrival.
