Having recently opened this year following a soft season in 2019, the family-owned villa has been faithfully restored to become a private retreat, whilst maintaining the grandeur of the 19th century mansion property, complete with Corfiot architecture. Sleeping up to 16 guests, the villa is ideal for families and larger groups seeking isolation and a reunion trip following lockdown.
Surrounded by rich tropical vegetation, the villa is spread across two floors and boasts five bedrooms, three bathrooms, spacious living areas, a fully equipped kitchen and separate professional kitchen, and a heated outdoor seawater pool with views over the Ionian Sea. Guests can experience VIP services as part of the nightly rate, including a private in-house chef; daily housekeeping; access to their own chauffeur driven mini-van; and local, insider knowledge from the owners. In short, all the five-star amenities of a luxury hotel, without having to share them with other guests.
At an additional charge, guests can enjoy wine from the villa’s carefully curated cellar; private swimming and tennis lessons from certified trainers; in-house beauty treatments; and a concierge service to arrange deliveries and extra services at the property. For those wanting an even bigger get together, there is a separate detached house available on-site to house a further four guests in their own private space.
Villa 1870 is owned by husband and wife team Dimitris and Nancy Kyriakis, who bought the villa with the intention of creating a holiday paradise for families of all ages. Inspired by their own family, the villa promises entertainment for every generation, including a state of the art games room and a plethora of outdoors and pool-based toys and activities. Originally built in 1870, the villa maintains a number of original features, evoking the old-school glamour of Corfu. Lovingly restored over three years by Dimitris and Nancy, Villa 1870 is a true passion project for the Kyriakis family. The interior design has been headed up by Nancy, and incorporates hand made pieces sourced locally and from mainland Greece, traditional stone and tiled flooring, light airy rooms, and bright summer colours.
Whilst Corfu is often considered to be a summer-only destination, Dimitris and Nancy are eager to highlight the attraction of visiting the destination year-round. Guests who are keen to explore the island without the summer crowds can rent the villa during the winter months, and still enjoy temperatures in the high-teens and the property’s heated outdoor pool. Corfu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers plenty of sightseeing even during the cooler months, so guests can spend their days discovering Venetian architecture, exploring quiet cobbled squares, and even joining the Corfiots swimming in the sea!
Nightly rates between €800 - €1,400, depending on the season. Rate includes accommodation, daily housekeeping, private mini-van airport transfers and to/from Corfu Town, baby equipment, laundry facilities and in-house private chef.
