Overtures piano bar bar partners with the Hippodrome
From the venue where Judy Garland played her last London concert, comes an exciting new sing-along experience where you and your friends become part of the performance and it’s completely free to attend. Landmark London venue, The Hippodrome Casino, has partnered with the capital’s favourite musical-singalong haunt, Overtures Piano Bar, to bring immersive entertainment to Lola’s – the venue’s underground cabaret bar – from 8pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Inspired by New York’s legendary sing-along institution, Marie’s Crisis Café, and in partnership with Fourth Wall Live, the singalong sessions at Lola’s will be Overtures at its very best; expect unplanned and spontaneous showtune singalongs with no set list, no stage and no microphone and an evening shaped solely by you. Pick your playlist and find yourself centre stage with Overture’s talented pianists and singers, surprise guests as well as homegrown local talent.
Whether wild for Wicked, mad for Les Misérables or just know your Grease from your Saturday Night Fever, guests are invited to sing as much or as little as they want in an all-inclusive environment that celebrates the joy of music, regardless of singing talent. With an unlimited repertoire of West End classics and lesser-known fan favourites, there’s something for everyone. So, in the immortal words of Ms Garland ‘get happy’ and head to Overtures.
Of the residency, Ray Rackham, founder of Overtures Piano Bar said: “Whilst we were in lockdown waiting to reopen Overtures, I knew that we needed to partner with a likeminded venue in the heart of Theatreland. And what a host we have found in The Hippodrome - the site where Judy Garland played her last London concerts, which welcomed the likes of Sophie Tucker and Liza Minnelli, and where Ethel Merman made her only British appearances. We are so delighted to have teamed up with Fourth Wall and The Hippodrome to meet bring
Londoners a place to immersive themselves in West End culture in such a celebratory format that is free and open to all.”
Jillian George-Lewis, Creative Entertainment Programmer at The Hippodrome adds: “What a joy to welcome Overtures to Lola’s, and with it a true taste of our West End home. After 18 months of lockdown, Londoners are ready to let loose and celebrate again, and we are delighted to be bringing this unique offering to our customers. The Hippodrome has a rich history of performance and it’s a delight to be hosting Overtures for what we know will be a rich and celebratory residency.”
Overtures x The Hippodrome is free to attend and open to over 18’s.
