Yorkshire Tonics is toasting Yorkshire Day by pairing its range of mixers with gins made by fellow producers from across God’s Own County.

The popularity of Yorkshire Tonics has grown since production started a year ago at drinks producer Raisthorpe’s farm in Thixendale on the Wolds. The mixers – six in total – are made by blending local water with natural citrus and fruity botanicals.

Yorkshire Tonics has developed a ‘gin wheel’ to show how its Yorkshire Tonics can be mixed with its own gins as well as others from the region’s gin producing community.

The collaboration includes brands from Slingsby, Whittaker’s and Cooper King. The wheel shows how the Yorkshire Tonics flavours – strawberry and pomegranate; pink grapefruit; citrus; apple and elderflower – can each be paired with gins which are rhubarb and fruity, citrus and herb, juniper rich or fruity and floral.

Yorkshire Tonics’ skinny and premium tonics can be mixed with all gin flavours.

Yorkshire Tonics founder Ollie Medforth said: “It’s important to pair the right tonic with your choice of gin. Our gin wheel shows perfectly which Yorkshire Tonic complements which gins from our fellow producers in Yorkshire and further afield.

“The gin and wider drinks sector in Yorkshire is thriving and our pairing wheel is a great way to not only collaborate but showcase the variety of artisan gins we have on offer in God’s Own County.”

Jane Whittaker, of Whittaker’s Gin in Nidderdale, said: “Raisthorpe’s premium tonic mixes well with our gin and we like the fact that it is a local Yorkshire tonic.”

Raisthorpe was established more than 10 years ago. The company produces a range of gin and gin liqueurs as well as vodkas, whiskies and ports. Yorkshire Tonics are produced in 200ml bottles and branded with the White Rose of Yorkshire. They retail at £1.50 each and are available from farmshops, delis and independent retailers or online at www.raisthorpemanor.com
