Glenrinnes launches Eight Lands organic gin and vodka
Family-owned Scottish producer Glenrinnes Distillery has released two new organic spirits: Eight Lands Organic Speyside Gin and Eight Lands Organic Speyside Vodka.
Co-founded by father and stepson team Alasdair Locke and Alex Christou, the purpose-built 5,400 sq/ft distillery is located at the foot of the Ben Rinnes mountain in the Speyside region of Scotland.
Eight Lands spirits are made using organic ingredients, including some botanicals that grow naturally on the estate and fresh Speyside spring water that flows past the distillery.
The distillery features a 1,000-litre pot still called Rebecca, named after Alex’s wife, and two ten-plate rectifying columns, built by local specialists.
Eight Lands Organic Speyside Gin (46% ABV) is a juniper-forward London Dry-style gin, complemented by eleven locally-foraged botanicals, including sorrel and cowberries. Distilled using both pot and column stills, the gin is “pure and crisp”, with notes of juniper, fresh pine and citrus.
Bottled at 24% ABV, Eight Lands Organic Speyside Vodka is made using a two-stage fermentation process. The “smooth and characterful” vodka presents notes of marzipan and vanilla, leading to butterscotch and coconut on the palate.
Alex said: “I genuinely believe that we have created something special with our organic vodka and gin, and I’m really proud of the team at the distillery for the hard work and passion that they have put into this.
“We have ambitious plans to build the Eight Lands brand globally in the months ahead and I know that my family and our production team are incredibly excited about sharing our spirits with both the UK and other markets.”
